Tulum, Mexico
A small town that holds a special place in our hearts. It is where we go to disconnect from our busy lives, eat, relax, and enjoy each other. It is also the location of our first trip together. We cannot wait to share this little piece of paradise with you.
What to do. Where to eat. How to chill. Check it out here: Travel Guide
Why we chose Posada Margherita? It is simple, fresh, and welcoming. Here's a preview: CN-Traveler
Accommodations
The area of Tulum you want to stay is along the beach strip - (Carretera Tulum-Boca Paila). You will be able to walk or bike everywhere while experiencing the Caribbean Sea. There are plenty of Hotel styles, and pricing options, below are some of our favorite places to stay. *Make sure you stay within Carretera Tulum-Boca Paila! (Tip: Check out Travelocity for flight + hotel Packages. There are some good deals there)
Papaya Playa Project
We have stayed here on our last two visits. It is a beautiful rustic paradise. They have lots of different room options ranging from cool cabanas to casitas with private pool. Try to get an oceanfront for a great breeze and view. The restaurant here is always so good for breakfast, lunch, and dinner focused on local cuisine. Located at the beginning of the beach strip, you can walk, rent bikes, or take short taxi trips to the other end of town. View Instagram
Be Tulum
An upscale beach hotel with all of the amenities you could ever need. We haven't stayed here yet, but we always find ourselves at their beach for incredible cabana hangs, insane gourmet food, and great drinks while soaking up the sun. Their sister hotel – "Nomade Tulum" is right next door, and also one of our top picks. Located near the end of the strip, it is walkable to most places in town. View Instagram
Nomade Tulum
Boasting a Moroccan-rustic vibe, we found this gem on our last trip to Tulum. We were blown away with their beach beds, and the amazing vegan/vegetarian food from their restaurant. Their rooms are a mix of safari style beach tents all the way up to luxurious suites. We also noticed this place is extremely family friendly. So bring the kids and let them run wild! Located next to Be Tulum – you can enjoy the best of both worlds! View Instagram
Coco Tulum
This one comes highly recommended by some of our friends from NY. It is also next door to our venue! Not that it matters, since everything in Tulum is a bike ride, walk or 5 minute drive away. This cabana style Hotel is laid back and super cool, with an great Pizza place on site. The newest cabanas are #31-42.

Transportation
Fly
To get to Tulum, you will need to fly into Cancun International Airport (CUN). It is a big airport with all major airlines coming through.
Shuttle
Once you arrive, you will need to take a shuttle to Tulum. The drive is 80 miles (130km), est. 1.5hrs of travel time. Most hotels offer a shuttle service you can book directly through them. Unfortunately, not free, it is usually around $120 dollars. If you end up flying with friends, it may be a good deal to split one shuttle. The drivers have a sign with the Hotel name + your name at arrival. We also recommend Hoppa, which quotes you in British Pounds. When you arrive there will be a guy with a sign + your name. (Tip: Please keep in mind while coordinating shuttle and flight – most places will use the 24hr clock. Just double check, otherwise the pickup times will be screwed up)
Currency
Although most places in Tulum accept US Dollars, and Credit Cards, we recommend exchanging & bringing some "Pesos" with you beforehand. The exchange rate is not always the best once you arrive in Mexico.
